Sean Kingston was born as Kisean Anderson on February 3, 1990. He took the name Kingston after the city where he spent some years. Sean Kingston is a Jamaican-American originally from Miami, Florida. His hard life has inspired much of his music. While growing up, he faced situations like homelessness, prison and a very disturbed childhood. Since his young parents were not inclined towards any softer music ,he grew up listening to Ice cube, Bijou and Rakim.
At the age of 11 Sean was incarcerated for a breaking and entering charge. After he got out of prison, he faced homelessness and lived out of a car while his mother was in prison on a different charge. He managed to completely turn his life around due to sheer determination and started relying on what he did best - writing rhymes. After working a while in Miami doing stage shows he got a chance to perform with stars like Pitbull and Trick Daddy. Sean has been immensely popular and in 2007 he released several hit singles like Beautiful Girls, Me Love, Take You There and Drummer Boy. He is known to write his own lyrics entirely and he refrains from using profanity in his music. With his distinct blend of hip-hop and reggae his career has quickly taken a giant leap. He was awarded in the category of Best Reggae Acts for 2007 MOBO Awards and Choice R&B Track at the Teen Choice Awards 2007. Sean continues to be one of the hottest artists of 2007 and has appeared on the Today Show with Natasha Bedingfield.
