Mavado has been faced with his share of problems lately with pending legal case. Nonetheless, this has not stopped the dancehall DJ from helping others.

Mavado is the first artist to make a donation to the Women’s Centre Foundation to help with the cause. The Women’s shelter will provide a safe refuge for battered women and children as well as provide Counseling, Skill training and Education for pregnant teens.

Mavado was denied entry into New York due to his recent gun related charges. The DJ was arrested in March and charged with gun related charges for an incident stemming back one year ago. He was released on a $200,000 bail and was ordered to surrender his travel documents. Mavado claims he was given back his travel documents a few days ago and was scheduled to perform in three shows in New York last week but immigration officials told him his visa was cancelled.
Mavado, who is very disappointed with the whole ordeal said this “Right now, fi tell yuh di truth, a jus’ life a di greatest ting, suh mi nuh even a worry mi self. Mi jus tek everything to Jah in prayer. Suh all who a fight mi, none a dem power nuh greater dan Jah,”

David Brooks AKA Mavado is yet another promising dancehall artist doing great things in the music business Movado grew up in Cassava Piece, one of Jamaica’s dangerous communities. Despite his tough upbringing, murder of his father and numerous run-ins with the law, this aritist always seem to rise above it all. Mavada credits two great people who are said to have impacted his music career. His gandmother, who rasied him, brought him to church every Sunday which he states growed his love for music and Bounty Killer who was a great mentor for showing him the ropes in the music buisness.

Mavado sign a deal with VP Records and released album Gangsta for life on July 2007. His resilence and determination holds true in the success of this Ablum.
