Where are they now? Kevin Lyttle, Nina Sky and Shabba Ranks

By admin | December 13, 2007

Kevin Lyttle whom received plenty of publicity and fame from hit song “Turn me on” has opted to go back to his regular day job. The song “turn me on” had a viral effect across the globe, first making its way across the Caribbean, then to the UK and finally to the US where it eventually went gold and peak #4 on the billboard charts. Well, now the celeb is currently back working his old job as a custom officer and a radio disc jockey. However, He still performs but there is word as to any new album.

Dancehall artist Shabba Ranks is keeping things low key.  The artist has numerous hit songs stemming back from 1991 with Dem Bow, just Reality and then on to one of the most memorable Mr. Loverman. There are still countless favorites such as wicked in bed, ting a ling, respect and the list could go on and on.  After Shabba Ranks greatest Hits album entitled Shabba Ranks and Friends released in 1999, the dancehall star literally disappeared from the Dancehall scene. Now there is a rumor that the artist will soon be making a comeback. Rumor has it, the artist maybe signing a record deal with Jay-Z’s Def Jam Records; however nothing has been confirmed as yet. Shabba Ranks currently lives in New York.

Nina Sky broke out onto the music scene in 2004 with “Move your Body. Based on the US, UK, Germany, France and Australia  R&B charts the song reached the top 5. Their music is a little bit of R&B, Hip Hop, Reggaeton combined. The Reggaeton is clearly attributed to their Puerto Rican descent. The girls both parents are from Puerto Rico, they moved to New York before the girls were born. Natalie and Nicole were born in Queens, New York on March 13, 1986. Their parents later divorced and their mother started a new relationship with a DJ who went on to be a great asset for the girls’ musical career.  By age 10, the girls knew they wanted to become singers. Their mother and stepfather who were very supportive gave the girls guitar and drums lessons to fuel their interest.

Nina Sky was said to release their second album, entitled “The Musical” July of 2007 but the release was postponed due to the duo leaving their label. It’s unclear when the album will be released.
