Talented beyond comparison, Heather Headley’s warm spirit is magnified in her musical ability to capture any audience. This rare gift has helped won roles in musical Lion King and Aida which stunning performance won her a tony award.Headley was born on the island of Trinidad and started her musical journey from the tender age of 2 where she began competing in performing arts concerts and by four was playing calyso, reggae and soca music on the piano. By the age fifteen Headley and her family left Trinidad and onward to Fort Wayne, Indiana where her father was offered a job as a pastor of a local church.After completing high school, Heather attended Northwestern University to study communications and musical theatre. In 1997, Headley was offered the role of Nala in the musical, Lion King. Though the decision to leave college was quite difficult, Headley took the opportunity and a year later was offered the leading role in the musical Aida. In 2002 Headley released her debut album” This is who I am” which she earned two Grammy nominations for best new artist and Best female R&B vocal performance. Headley may be best known for her smashed hit “He is” and “ I wish I wasn’t” and in 2006 released her second album” In my mind” which received its fair share of success. In 2003, Heather Headley married Brian Musso, a former New York Jets player.
