Timothy Theodore Duncan better known as Tim Duncan was born on April 25, 1976 in Christiansted, St Croix-US Virgin Islands. Currently he plays basketball for San Antonio Spurs and is also the captain of the team. He has been chosen three times as NBA finals for most valuable player.
Tim started out as a swimmer and started playing basketball much later. He graduated from college and entered the 97 NBA Draft. He is known for his skills as a passer, dribbler, shooter, scorer and defender. His multitalented facet has led to various awards and accolades in his distinguished sporting career. He holds a degree in psychology and is known for his work for various charitable causes that are dear to him. He runs the Tim Duncan Foundation to support health awareness and fund education and sports for youth across the United States.
In 1994 he was nominated to the Atlantic Coast Conference All Rookie Team. In 1997 he got selected as the NCAA National Player of the year. Since 1999 he has been playing for the San Antonio Spurs. He was selected as the most valuable player of the year in 2002. After finishing the 1999-2000 season averaging 23.2 points, 12.4 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per game, he had to wait it out on the bench after sustaining an injury. Though Orlando Magic wooed him the spurs still convinced him to stay on in San Antonio.
The 2001-2002 season was one of the best seasons of his career. He managed to score 25.5 points, 12.7 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks per game on average. Duncan has found himself as the captain of the team and is working hard to inspire his teammates to perform better. Even though he has the reputation of being quiet off court he has managed to show his versatility on the court.
